parque nacional los glaciares, argentina

We arrived in El Chalten and set out for a short three day hike. The first day we hiked for about 3 hours in order to reach our campsite which looked up at Mt. Fitz Roy. There was another family camping there with two kids and they were just starting a 15 month trip around the world! We talked to them for a while before going to bed and were very impressed with how knowledgable the two kids were (they were only 7 and 10)!
We woke up at 4:45am the next day to hike up to Laguna de Los Tres to watch the sunrise over Mt. Fitz Roy. It was BEAUTIFUL. We started hiking in the dark and over the course of the 1.5hr hike, we watched the entire sunrise until the moment the light eventually touched the tip of the mountain. We ate cold leftover pasta for breakfast and although it was not the most tasty, the view made up for it 😊
After returning to camp from our sunrise hike, we went on another short hike to see Glaciar Piedras Blancas. We then went back to camp, packed up, and headed to Laguna Torre. The view looking up at Mt. Torre from Laguna Torre was our favorite view of this trip so far. The water was filled with tiny pieces of ice that sounded like wind chimes hitting against eachother!
We camped there for the night and woke up to rain and crazy wind in the morning! We hiked back to El Chalten in the rain and went directly to the ice cream store upon reaching town. It was a nice treat after three days of hiking!
